Planting Pansy Seeds...

On Friday, we planted Pansy seeds with our Student Teacher Miss Mac. We were learning how to follow simple instructions. Here's how we planted the seeds...

The seeds we used...

They were so tiny!

First we put the soil into the pot. Then we put in one tiny seed and covered it with some more soil.

Next we decorated out pots with some stars.

We then watered our seeds.

Now we have to wait for them to grow!

Bully Free Week

This week Reremoana School celebrated the first ever 'Bully Free Week' in New Zealand. In Room 3, we discussed what bullying is and what it isn't. It is important for parents and students to know the difference. Click on the link below for facts about bullying.

What is Bullying?

We talked about using our W.I.T.S in a situation where bullying is occurring:

We also discussed and practiced being a kind friend this week. We talked about all the different ways that we can be kind e.g. helping someone when they are sad or hurt, including everyone in your game, giving others compliments etc.
We will continue to develop our understanding of bullying and kindness throughout the year.

Making Masks...

Yesterday in phonics, we learnt about the letter M. We learnt what it looks like, the sound it makes, and some words beginning with the letter M. Here are some masks that we made.

Making Jelly

On Friday, Room 3 made some delicious jelly as part of our Letters and Sounds programme. We made lime, strawberry, and blueberry flavours. We have been learning about the letter j. We have learnt what the capital and lower-case letter looks like, what sound the letter j makes, and some words that begin with the letter j.
As we were making the jelly, we read the instructions to help us. We learnt why it is important to read all of the instructions before we start something.
This is how you make jelly:

1. Put the jelly mix into a bowl

2. Add 2 cups of boiling water to each bowl and stir really well

3. Pour the jelly into individual containers and place in the fridge to set

4. Eat!
