Happy Birthday!

The other day it was Alva's 6th birthday and today it was Tayla's 6th birthday! Over the next week or two, we will also be celebrating Hayley and Matthew's birthday. In class, we made a vanilla and raspberry swirl cake to celebrate. It smelt so good when it was baking, and it tasted even better!

Reindeer Art

We have been busy painting reindeer and getting into the Christmas spirit! The children worked very hard painting their reindeer and I am very proud of their work! Please come in and have a look!

First we painted the background blue.

We then painted the reindeer's head brown.

Next, we added the eyes, nose, ears, christmas lights, and glitter!

The last step was painting the stars, and of course adding MORE glitter!

Scavenger Hunt

On Friday afternoon, Room 3 and their buddy class Room 16, took part in a scavenger hunt around the school. The tasks that the children needed to complete were related to  our PB4L 'A, B, C, Ds' - Act Safely, Be Respectful, Consider your Choices, and Do Good because Good is Good to do.
For each task, the children had to work in teams and take a photo of themselves completing the activity using the iPads. Some examples of activities were:

1. Take a photo of your friend putting some rubbish in the correct bin.
2. Take a photo of your group playing safely in the playground.
3. Take a photo of your group moving safely around the school.

We had a lot of fun completing the scavenger hunt and the top three fastest teams also won some prizes!

Lion King Production

Kia ora koutou,

Next week is the School Lion King Production. This will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm, Wednesday night at 7pm, and Thursday night at 7pm.
The Room 3 children will be part of the build up to the Lion King show - which will be based on the picture book 'Giraffes can't Dance'.
Please ensure that your child is in their classroom by 6pm on both Wednesday, and Thursday nights. I have most of their black clothes in my office, which they can take and get changed into before the show begins.
You can purchase your tickets via the link on the latest school newsletter, which is on the school website.
If you are taking your child home after the junior part of the production, please make sure you sign the sign out sheet in Room 3 before doing so.

Thanks a lot,

Kaylie Ashworth

Persuasive Writing

On Friday, our class shared their writing at Celebration. This term, we have been learning how to write a persuasive piece of text. We read a book called 'The Very Spooky House'. It was about some naughty monsters who had been eating popcorn. The children had to decide whether or not they thought the monsters should be allowed to eat the popcorn. Room 3 have also done a fantastic job at creating some lovely artwork to go with their stories!
